ACIP Occupational Employment Statistics Overview

These ACIP Occupational Employment Statistics data files and the procedures for constructing them were developed by the Urban Institute's Arts and Culture Indicators Project (ACIP), with support from the Rockefeller Foundation and Leveraging Investments in Creativity (LINC). The files are provided as a public service, and unfortunately, we are not currently able to provide individual technical assistance on their use. That said, we welcome comments, corrections, and stories about how you are using the data. Please direct any feedback or questions to natdata@urban.org. Description

OES derive from a semiannual mail survey measuring wage rates and occupational employment totals for wage and salary workers in non-farm establishments in the United States. The Arts and Culture Indicators Project (ACIP) of the Urban Institute compiled OES data on employment and wages in 26 detailed arts-related occupations. The OES data use the Office of Management and Budget's Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) system, which includes 801 detailed occupations comprising 23 major occupational groups. ACIP identified 26 occupations relevant to arts and culture, within the major occupation group 27-0000 (Arts, Design, Entertainment, Sports, and Media Occupations). The survey sample of 1.2 million establishments over six panels is drawn from state Unemployment Insurance files. The OES provide cross-industry data files.
